As all our Grandma's used to say, "Every cloud has a silver lining." The cloud is is that Tom DeSanto and Glen Larson were not allowed to bring BSG forward to the world of television. The Silver Lining is that we now have their unique talents and vision to put BSG where it belongs...on the Big Screen. I give CFF my blessings in its efforts to see that that happens. And will continue, 'til I remove to that Big Sci-Fi Show in the Sky, to dream of the day when Starbuck will return in the manner, and sex, in which he was intended. Grandma also used to advise that the secret to success is to "never give up". I concur but, having been blessed with the good fortune of being the actor that originally brought Starbuck to life, I have another way of putting it...."The first 25 years of waiting are always the toughest." Let's none of us forget that.

With deep gratitude for all those amazing fans throughout the years,

I remain,

Dirk Benedict, Lt. Starbuck (ret.)

Hi everyone,
You probably all know by now that I have had a meeting with Ron Moore, and have been offered a guest starring role on the New BG series.

From what was described to me, the role had substance, heart and would be a wonderful part for me to play. I have agreed to accept the role, and want to thank Ron for offering it to me. I'm very appreciative of the fact that the producers are exploring ways to utilize the original actors in meaningful ways in the new series and not just offering cameos. Obviously this role has to be negotiated by my agent.

The question I keep hearing is if I've suddenly changed my mind and 'gone over to the other side'. First, I don't think this is about choosing sides or determining which show is better. You can't compare these two shows, since they're both so totally different in tone, spirit and style. My heart is obviously with the original and I will never change my mind about bringing back and continuing the original BG series. It's a classic and deserves to be brought back intact and I will do everything in my power to help inspire a continuation. Second, no one has suffered or been as frustrated and angry as I have been over the decision not to continue the original series with the original actors.

I have struggled with my emotions over this and have done a great deal of thinking about how to use my time and energy in a way that will serve the best interest of Galactica and any future possibility of bringing back and continuing the original series. Attacking the new show and trying to bring it down is not the way to do it, as far as I'm concerned. The more successful any BG series is the more opportunities will come from it to do other potential BG shows, games, movies etc. The failure of the new Galactica series will not bring back the show many of us want.

I have learned the hard way to channel my anger and frustration in more positive and constructive ways that will lead to a win/win senario for everyone. When you attack and put people down, no one listens and you waste a lot of valuable energy accomplishing nothing. If you like the new series or hate it, great, the point is you're entitled to your point of view, but the fact remains that how you feel about the new show should have nothing to do with the old. They're two totally different shows from what I've seen, and in all fairness you can't really compare them.

As I've said before, I think the studio should have given this series an entirely different name, or maybe even made it a spinoff in the Galactica universe, but that is not the decision they made and we have to live with that. This whole thing has been difficult and extremely painful for me, but my suggestion is this; instead of attacking the new BG series, I hope fans will find a way to give constructive feedback that can help this series grow and evolve, and hopefully open the door to future possibilities.

Please just know that I love the original series concept and the original characters, and I will continue to support positive efforts to bring back the original, such as the campaign being conducted by the Colonial Fan Force, which has my full endorsement. The return of the original is my heart's desire.

I send you all the best, and please keep the faith!

Richard

To the members of the Colonial Fan Force, hello from Stu Phillips. It is really a great thrill to know that so many fans of the original Battlestar Galactica are interested in a continuation of the show's original premise. I know that Glen Larson has been trying for many years to make that happen. Perhaps, with Tom DeSanto's help this can now be accomplished. I look forward to the possibility of, once again, composing music for the show and all of you fans.

As a fan of TOS, I would be thrilled to see the familiar faces return to battle the evil walking toasters. I think this is a great effort worthy of support and it is my hope that through work like this we can finally bring together fans of TOS and the new BSG. At the end of the day we are all sci-fi and more particularly Battlestar fans. Good luck to all.

I absolutely love the idea of a BSG movie!!!  The only thing I ask is that ALL of the old characters be played by original actors.  Especially Boxey.  I know that Noah is no longer in the entertainment business, but who knows he may decide to do something this special.  If he can't do the movie, then please find a way to write Boxey's character out with room to return if there are any sequals.  DON'T REPLACE NOAH!!!!  I know many who would feel the same way.  No one is replacable in my mind.  I was born the year BSG came out, and have always loved it.  Thanks for making the original BSG series.  I hope things go well in your movie efforts.

Blessings,
Jules

Greetings my fellow Battlestar fans,

Years ago when I was just a kid I can remember being so excited in anticipation when it came to watching my favorite weekly episode of Battlestar Galactica.  That excitement and aticipation is still there today with the hope of Mr. Glen Larson and Mr. Tom DeSanto's efforts to bring back the original to the big screen.  I have signed petitions, wrote many letters and voiced my hopes of seeing all my favorite characters back in action one more time just as many BG fans have done over the years.  Hope for a continuation will never die as long as all Battlestar fans continue to voice their desire to see the original cast and designs and I give all my support to Mr. Larson and Mr. DeSanto in their efforts to bring back the real Battlestar Galactica

All by best,

Well I too was a heart broken fan when they cancelled the show and I wrote and called and was not all that excited when they returned it without some of the MAJOR people in 1980.

BUT ... I am of another age. OVER 55  probably the same as the origional cast.

Okay who out there is with me? Are we going to let them decide that our wishes Don't count. By the Lords Of Kobol we want the origional cast back and the story to continue as it should have. A story of hope and humanity...the struggle of good against evil. I would love to own the  movie or two for that matter. Where do we send the email ??? Whose cage can we rattle?

Hi Everyone!

Although I liked the re-imagining on its own merits I would like to see a continuation of the show with as many of the original cast as possible.
Having read the proposed storyline I am very anxious to actually see it.I liked the original show and am interested to see a continuation with the modern technologies and views available.

I hope to see the dream of so many come alive.

Hello everyone,

I am an original fan of Battlestar Galactica and I would truly like to see a new feature film that continues the original saga featuring as many of the original cast members as possible, including Kent McCord.

The new theme should follow where the original Galactica story left-off with the same ships and uniforms or as close to the same original version, not like the revised version. We have come a long way in graphics since 1978.

The original series was an inspiration to all of us, just like Star Trek - that's not to say that Star Wars did not pave the way for Galactica. And as we grew older we too became part of the colonial warrior legacy that has inspired many to follow.

Like those before me have said, it is time that Hollywood noticed that we as fans want to have this story happen. and that Mr. Glen Larson and Mr. Tom De Santo make plans for this event to come true. They certainly have the clout.

Lastly, I want to thank all those involved in creating the show and vote a big "YES" to reviving the spirit and storyline of the original Battlestar Galactica.

Yours truly,
Ivan 'John' Petric

Hail,

I remember as a kid being excited every week to watch my favorite show, Battlestar Galactica. After the show I would go work on my BSG puzzle and play with my BSG toys.

But, there is hope! I have stumbled upon this site and discovered I am not alone! I fully support you all and this site. I will do anything to spread the message. If someone can bring back BSG the way it was meant to be with not changing all the characters to make it more "politically correct" it would be a day long remembered and loved by many people. With you getting your money for ads promoting your agenda I can only hope something positive comes from it. I wish all involved the best of luck with this. We only need one more thing on this site, a Forum/Message Board for us all to voice our opinions and discuss things involving one of our fav shows.

In full support,
Greg Lehr

Hi everybody,

I'm a woman from The Netherlands and I'm a big fan from the Battlestar Galactica Original Series. I saw the first movie when a was 9 years old and from the first moment, I was totally in love with it. Apollo, Starbuck, Serina, Athena, Cassiopeia, Sheba, Commander Adama, Kolonel Tight, Boomer, Jolly, sometimes I wished I was one of them because I also liked everything that has to do with space ( especially flying in space ).

Then the series came on television. I used to watch Battlestar Galactica every wednesday when I came back from school. I was very sad when the series did not continue. ( Sorry for my bad English but I will give it a try) My biggest wish is than also to bring a continue of Battlestar Galactica on the big screen with much original characters as possible. It's a shame that Hollywood ignores all the fans of Battlestar Galactica who wants it back on the screen. There are a lot of other fans who has the same wish as I do. Please bring it back!

Greetings from Catharina

I think the theme should be the same as the original and the ships and uniforms the same or close to the same.

I think it is about time Hollywood noticed that we as fans want to have this happen and that Mr. Larson and Mr. De Santo make plans for this to happen.

I for one will continue to support this as long as it takes and that the goal of 10,000.00 be met.

I am a fan of both The Original Series and the new Battlestar Galactica by Ron Moore. As the new series goes into production, I hope that this donation and others (that I will send every month) will help convince Mr. Larson and Mr. DeSanto, to begin a continuation movie.

May both a Continuation Movie, and the new series, shine brightly in the years to come.

Hi,

The fans have been ignored for Yahrens but hopefully that is about to change. A huge audience sits at home waiting to be tapped both emotionally and financially. There are marketing opportunities that have been overlooked for so long that it isn't funny. Battlestar Galactica had the potential to blow the competition away and should have that opportunity again.

Some say that we are too passionate as fans but we are fighting for a worthwhile cause and hurting no one in the process. I for one want to see Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict, and all those who want to participate for a whole new series of adventures.

Subject: Announcing The Colonial Fan Force

In checking out the Colonial Fan Force, I do hope that all fans stand behind Richard Hatch and Glen A Larson in bringing back the "Original" version of Battlestar Galactica.  As a writer and published Author of the Battlecruiser Books that are currently in print, I am starting to see the first repercussions of the SciFi version released by Ron Moore.

The first thing that fans are asking me is why a lot of "Battlecruiser" ideas are showing up
on the new "Reimagined" version.  I first wanted to point out that I made sure to have seven years of research to make sure that the "Battlecruiser" books had nothing to do with Battlestar Galactica (The Original series) which I condone as Glen A Larson's vision and its own visual and written work of art.

What showed up in the reimagined was a copy of other works melded together and called a reimagined show???  Battlecruiser books has female pilots, Raptor squadron and a premise of a large warship with a "Starcraft Carrier" basis. Other than that, there is no connection between Galactica and the Battlecruiser books.  That the reimagined had similar uniforms (To the bookcover) and used Navy callsigns was again taking ideas similar to the Battlecruiser books.

There are also talks of having the Cylons made from man and is returning that is an other idea that comes from "Space: Above and Beyond."

It is because of this "taking" ideas and melding into the original show that is causing a lot of the problems in the new reimagined.

Battlestar Galactica should retain the original Egyptian // Roman Centurion conflicts of the original series as a fleet of starfarers looking for a legendary planet they called Earth.

Space: Above and Beyond should retain its war against the Chigs and the AI's in space as a Spacecraft Carrier saga using WWII tactics and Marine premise

Battlecruiser (Books) should retain the "Top Gun" Navy tactics of missiles battles and fighters/bombers as the Earth Empire battle the Drazakian Dynasty for freedom.

And Ron Moore should learn that taking ideas and changing them and melding them and thencalling it a "reimagine" causes conflict, confusion and many harsh undertones to both the industry, and to those who are trying to express original thought.  I wonder what is next for the new Galactica.... Klingons on the bridge and Gandalf as a computer system???

Feel free to comment, and I will feel free to stand behind the Colonial Fan Force as a voice for keeping original ideas as they are written.... Original!

God Bless,

Sincerely,

David Schleifer

The problem with Battlestar Galactica was never it's epic look and sound nor was it the ensemble cast playing heroic characters people could admire.  A well written and exciting script.  Battlestar's single greatest weakness was the writing of many of the one hour episodes

A proper budget, it can't be done on the cheap. It needs great production values, today that can be achieved for a lot less $60 million.

Members of the original cast who are still acting. These people played the characters we admired, despised and connected with. Without them Battlestar Galactica would just be a lot of hardware, nothing people would still be talking about today. They should introduce and mentor a new generation of younger characters that will be the franchise's future.

The Star Ship designs should be same with only the slightest updating.   These craft still look great twenty five years later.

The Cylons Centurions could use a slight updating to look less like an actor in suit. Like the space craft they too still look great and menacing today.

The Wardrobe look should be similar, these costumes won an Emmy and convey the connections to ancient Earth societies.

The same sets, again slightly updated knobs, buttons and screens. The Battlestar bridge set was incredible.  Stu Phillips grand score matched the sweeping epic stories Battlestar Galactica told he should be invited back.  The universe created for Battlestar Galactica should be kept intact

The look and sound was never the problem. Poor scripts and over used special effects shots were.

Give us a great script, much of the original cast and something that looks and sounds (including the soundtrack) like the original series. We will fill theatre seats and spend fists full of cash.

Jon Rogers
